Nowadays the majority of businesses have a website, but how accessible is that site for everyone in your target audience?

Currently users of all ages and abilities operate on the world-wide-web, meaning having an online presence is essential in today’s society. Yet some businesses do not accommodate for users with impairments, which could be reducing your website sales and engagement.

Statistics obtained from The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and the Action on Hearing Loss, shows data on the number of UK residents who have accessibility issues. In 2015, the RNIB’s data found that there was over two million people in the UK living with sight loss. The Action on Hearing Loss states one in six of the UK’s population has a hearing loss, which is more than 11 million people. Estimations predict by 2035 hearing loss, will rise to 15.6 million people – that is one in five in the UK. These statistics indicate the importance of having a user-friendly website; allowing greater access for your audience.
